#TogetherApart is a leading social media tag that describes what has been a new normal for the past several weeks.

And now, with restrictions lifting across the nation, it feels as if we are preparing ourselves to enter a new, new normal.

As we all wrestle with the lack of clarity about when/if things will resemble life pre-pandemic, what if we encouraged each other to focus on resilience? Leading with empathy, grace and thoughtfulness can help us shape the new, new normal together.

Realistically, things will continue to feel a bit unsteady, so to help us focus on staying centered:

  • Balance challenges ahead with progress made. Over the last several months we’ve learned about the coronavirus transmission patterns, signs and symptoms, and prevention and control. We know more than we did 3 months ago, and in 3 months’ time we’ll know even more.
  • Balance differences of opinion with transparency, empathy and kindness. The pandemic has affected everyone, but in different ways. Share some of your struggles and challenges. Listen with humility and curiosity. Be kind to yourself – and extend that kindness and patience with everyone you encounter.

In the meantime, enjoy a reminder from one of our favorite books, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, by Charlie Mackesy:

As you continue to look outward to the needs of others from wherever you are, we wanted to share a resource we love. Check out this Kindness Kit from our friends at Doing Good Together. It’s full of fun activities and conversation starters to nurture compassion – all from your kitchen table!

Lastly, we hope you walk with enduring kindness and remain resilient. We look forward to a time when we will be together again. In the meantime, our team continues to be available virtually by phone, email and video conference.

With hope and optimism,
